Who we are
This website, garageconversionschelmsford.co.uk, is run by B UK Property Services ("we", "us"), based at Windmill House, Buck Lane, Ramsey, Essex CO12 5HW. We are the data controller for the personal information you give us through it. You can contact us about your data by emailing info@bukbuilds.co.uk or calling 01206 205285.
What we collect
When you send one of our quote forms we receive the details you enter: your name and phone number, and, if you give them, your email address, postcode, the type of garage, what you would like it to become, when to ring and any message. We also record which form you used, the page you sent it from and the date and time.
To stop abuse of the forms, the server briefly keeps a one-way fingerprint of your internet address (not the address itself) so it can limit how many enquiries are sent in a short time. It is overwritten within ten minutes.
How we use it and why
- To reply to your enquiry, call you back, arrange a survey and prepare a quote. The legal basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
- To keep a record of what was discussed if you go ahead with the work, on the same basis and to meet our legal and accounting obligations.
We do not use your details for marketing, and we never sell or share them for anyone else's marketing.
Who else sees it
- Our website provider. Each enquiry is emailed to us through our website host's mail service (20i / StackMail, UK), and a copy goes to Star Websites, who built and look after this site, so they can make sure the forms keep working. They do not use your details for anything else.
- Google reCAPTCHA, if it is switched on, checks that a form is being sent by a person rather than a bot. It runs when you start filling in a form and sends Google technical information about your visit. Google's privacy policy applies to it.
- Google Analytics (Google Ireland Ltd) counts visits to this website: which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors are (town or region), what device and browser they use, and how they arrived. It does not receive what you type into our forms. Google processes this data for us under its data processing terms, and it may be handled outside the UK under recognised safeguards.
- Google Maps. The map of Chelmsford on our contact page is loaded from Google when you scroll to it. Google may set cookies and receive your internet address when it loads. Google's privacy policy applies.
- WhatsApp and email. If you contact us by WhatsApp or email, those services handle your message under their own policies.
Analytics and cookies
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use this website, so we can improve it. It sets two cookies on your device:
- _ga: tells one visit from another. It lasts up to two years.
- _ga_Q76BMB001L: keeps track of the current session for our Analytics account. It lasts up to two years.
The legal basis is our legitimate interest in knowing how the website is used. You can block or delete these cookies in your browser settings, or stop Google Analytics on every website with Google's opt-out browser add-on. The website works the same either way.
The map and, if it is switched on, reCAPTCHA may also set Google's own cookies when they load, as described above. We set no advertising cookies.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to work are deleted within 12 months. If you become a customer, we keep your details for as long as we need them for the job, its guarantee and our tax records, normally up to seven years after the work is finished.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, object to how we use it or ask us to restrict its use. Contact us using the details above and we will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Security
The website is served over an encrypted connection, the forms only accept enquiries sent from this site, and enquiries are sent to us by encrypted email rather than stored on the web server.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
